Looking At Drugs And Teenagers

by Seth Johnson

Drugs and teenagers, it a problem that you may face if you have a teen. There are signs that you need to watch for, and make sure you don’t ignore the problem. Before your child gets to the age of where they may experiment with drugs, have many talks with them too.

You may even know these people yourself; you know the ones that use drugs themselves. They are parents, but still smoke pot or use other illegal drugs. Those kids they are raising are not stupid; they will know what their parents are up too. And when they see parents doing it that means it has to be okay for them to do it.

But talking to your teen and watching them may help you stop the problem before it leads to serious problems. Even the teen that smokes is using a drug, and should be talked to and made to stop. Some parents may hope if they let their teen continue to smoke, they may not move onto other drugs.

However, since that isn’t a positive thing, you should just help them get off the cigarettes too. Watch your prescriptions if you have any at home, to make sure that the pills aren’t going sooner than they should. They may take these to school and sell them, even watch their friends when they are over.

If you think you have a teenager who is using drugs, you may have to search their rooms when they are gone. Or if you want, when they are there at home, so they can react, it can lead to a discovery. You know the guilt complex of where they might have something hidden.

Look for rolling papers, even drug residue, or lighters, anything that may indicate that they are using drugs. Confront them with it, and get them help. Remember though they will have to want to stop using in order to succeed.

One of the most important things to do though is to set the right example for your teens. Or kids of any age don’t use drugs around them. You shouldn’t be using drugs anyway, but many people do them, and it’s just what they feel is right. However, keep that away from your kids.

You may need to search your teens room every once in a while if you think they are using drugs. It may seem like a big step, but it’s a lot better than having them get pregnant, or have unprotected sex. Or other things that can happen when they begin to experiment with different drugs.
