Your baby faces many trials after his birth. Whether the birth was natural or assisted, he or she experiences a great deal of stress as he copes with the abrupt change in the world as he knows it. The first few weeks are a crucial time. You try your level best to get things organized suitably and he tries his best to unsettle things. You just have to give it maximum priority and the adjustment with your infant will be perfect if you follow the tips given.
He feels he is on familiar territory since he is used to your voice while he was growing inside you. The sound of your voice enables him to cross the hurdles of life easily, from the time of his birth. Talk to him, sing your favorite lullaby, and read books to him, especially stories that rhyme.
Your newborn will learn to identify you through your voice. By making eye contact with them when you talk to or massage him, you are communicating with him, and if you watch his cues, you’ll learn how he communicates with you.
Your baby relaxes in your arms when you caress him. Train yourself to massage your infant and try to make this a regular routine. One cannot deny the benefits of infant massage.
The physical contact with you assures your baby of his well being. Carry him in a sling or carrier always. Besides, he senses the familiar heart beats which help him to relax. You can thus go about with your chores in comfort with your baby close to you.
So attend to him immediately. You may also feel like crying when he does. Try to solve the problem which he is going through after lifting him up and soothing him. You can then do the needful to relieve him.
Do not think you will spoil him. This will grow with your paying constant attention to him. It’s not uncommon for moms to feel out of sync with their babies in the first few weeks. When your newborn receives your total attention through all his senses, it soothes his nerves.
